Linear all the way!

Linear PSU

A linear power supply can make all the difference, and unlike other manufacturers, Classic Audio Ltd offers a high quality European made linear power supply as standard with it's Spartan range of pre-amplifiers.

Right first time...

Nowadays, cheap switching power supplies are commonplace in consumer audio, leading to a troubling variety of ill effects ranging from audible mains buzz to damage to the equipment unfortunate enough to be connected up to these cheap devices. In addition to this, these units can only use a sub-optimal 'single supply rail' arrangement where the ground which the precious audio signal is referenced to is injected with potentially non linear supply currents of active devices such as op-amps which can significantly degrade distortion performance.

Instead of of selling units using with this problem built into them and then offering up an extortionately priced 'solution' in the form of a linear supply as an upgrade, Classic Audio Ltd believes in investing in high quality parts to avoid trouble straight out of the gate. That's why you won't see any products here advertised with 'upgraded' parts because all Classic Audio components are optimised as standard. That standard means that Classic Audio power supplies are linear, split, regulated supplies that you can rely on not to get in the way of the music!

Under Construction

As of the date listed above, the Classic Audio website is still under construction, so the creator kindly asks the reader to bear with its limited features and foibles as he strives to improve the website and his own ability to create it in HTML and CSS.

At the time of writing, there are only two articles published on the website, along with the contact page. By the end of 2020, there should be a total of four, along with a complete description of the Spartan 10 Phonostage which will be available from early 2021. A concise about section will also be made available by the end of 2020, to give the reader an idea of the design philosophy of the creator.

The Classic Audio site has only been online for a sparse two weeks at the time of writing and should continue to fill out at an exponential rate in accordance with the progress being made. If the reader has any suggestions regarding site layout, then the author would be very appreciative of any feedback offered.
